I finally read Cal Newport's piece that you refer to. Your response is SPOT ON. Awesome job.

I absolutely love this! You frame the juxtaposition so well, articulating the movement forward and the friction we have with spending time on 'our phones'. Your solutions are practical and doable in my opinion, I'm hoping this spreads far and wide.

Thank you!! It’s a simpler message to say we should get off their phones, but impractical for how many people actually live. And, I think, adds to feeling guilty and anxious!

So beautifully articulated. We really need to look inwards to tap into why short form content is becoming more important. It is a bit of an egg and chicken problem. But I agree the solution is not in banning access or content but actively shaping it and educating users. It baffles me that there is next to no conversation about digital literacy.

Thank you Sugandha! I hear about the chicken and the egg... does advancing online participation manifest the issues we're worried about? It's a legitimate question. I think every expert and educator will need to figure out at what point and in what way they want to try to shape the ecosystem as well as we can. That's what I'm trying to help them do.
